LEFKADA is a mountainous island with lush vegetation - especially in the east and south. The east coast, which is sheltered from the wind and gently sloping into the sea, has small, fertile islets in front of it. The west coast, on the other hand, is steep and rugged, with wide sandy beaches and wooded bays.

The island's capital Lefkada offers an extremely picturesque sight with the brightly painted wooden structures on the houses and the narrow, steep alleys. From Vasiliki you can take the boat to the Leukadian Rock, the southern cape of the island, in half an hour. The whole island can be explored by car or mountain bike. A detour to Kefalonia, the largest Ionian island, is also worthwhile. Fiskardo with its picturesque yacht and fishing harbor in the north of Kefalonia was spared the 1953 earthquake and has retained the typical appearance of an island village.
